Satan’s Team
In Chapter 13 we find Satan standing on the shore of the sea. He
has been defeated by Michael and is looking to put together a team to
return to the battle against God and all Christians. Satan called
the beast from the sea. John’s description of the beast
made him seem like a selection of vicious animals. One head
seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the wound had healed. Was
this supposed to provide a counter for Christ’s crucifixion and
resurrection? The dragon gave the beast from the sea his power
and his throne and great authority. The beast had great following
among the people of the earth. The beast launched a propaganda
campaign against God and all those in heaven. He made war against
the saints and conquered them. The beast was given authority over
every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the
earth, except the people whose names appear in the book of life,
worshiped the beast.
Satan continued to build his team by calling forth a beast from the
earth. This beast from the earth is given great authority and
performs miraculous feats. He deceives the inhabitants of the
earth and orders them to set up an image in honor of the beast that was
wounded and yet lived. He gave breath to the image so it could
speak. He caused all that refused to worship the image to be
killed. He also caused all to receive a mark which is the mark of
the beast. His number is 666.
There are all kinds of speculation about the number 666. Some
claim it is about the Roman Empire and its persecution of
Christians. There is enough speculation about 666 to support just
about any notion you may desire. However, the point is that this
is not occurring during our time. Satan does not mark his people
until after God has marked his own.
Satan has his command team complete and he is engaged in his attack on
Christianity in any way he can. His greatest victories are when
he can lead a Christian leader astray and cause them to sin in a way
that discredits their church or organization.
